Welcome to a future where the best of mankind shapes a more wonderful world.

Ideas of Tomorrow is inspired by the creative vision of history’s greatest innovators. I am particularly influenced by the imagination of Walt Disney. Known for his animated features and theme parks, Walt was also a futurist, intensely interested in the technologies and trends of tomorrow. Before his death, Walt was developing the “Florida Project” – what would later become Walt Disney World. This land in Orlando was not originally intended primarily as an east-coast Disneyland (Walt hated repeating himself), but as a home for EPCOT.

The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), Walt Disney explained, “will take its cue from the new ideas and new technologies that are emerging from the forefront of American industry. It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed. It will always be showcasing and testing and demonstrating new materials and new systems.” Walt of course passed away before his vision could be realized, and EPCOT was built not as a living community, but as a second Orlando theme park.

It is my hope that Ideas of Tomorrow can serve as something of that showcase of innovation that Walt envisioned. These ideas will come from major companies, from well-known innovators, and hopefully – even from you. As Steve Jobs explained, “Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

Here’s to Tomorrow.
